Living inside a mountain

Living inside a mountain

In the future we have to save rescources, because the amount of people and the need for rescources is constantly growing. We have to find a way to reuse our rescources. Because of the huge amount of people on our planet we should also care about the space we use and about our planet’s health. A great way to achieve that is either to live underground or in a mountain or live above or under water and use every piece of land for food production. We also have to use all the rescources nature gives us, i.e. the sun and wind, which means we have to use solar panels and windmills for energy production.

At first you can see that in my construction people live inside a mountain. The first thing you can see there are the 5 sections my construction is divided into. The first section is for living. It is the place where everyone lives and owns some kind of living space. The second section is for work only. In the third section you can go outside and spend your freetime the way you want. The fourth section is the most important one. It contains agriculture and is for food and rescource production. The outside wall of this section is made of glass, so the sunlight can get in. The fifth and last section is for energy production and storage. The whole exterior of this section consists of solar panels. Also, there is a big rainwater collection system on the top of the mountain on top of which there are many windmills. One of the big advantages of my construction is the sustainable non-necessity for transport. As every person lives in the same location, there is no need for food ex- or imports, which reduces carbondioxid emissions. Also, the culture and community can form a new society and create a new culture of sustainability. With the fifth section you get all the water and energy you need to survive. The solar panels and the windmills are located on top of the mountain to gain as much energy as possible.

Living inside the mountain is also better for wildlife and beneficial for the earth in general because people would stop harvesting things that animals need to survive (e.g. deforestation of the rainforest). The only thing that we would need to remove is the inside of the mountain to get the space we need. The excavated material can be used to build new “mountain cities”.
