“ UNVERPACKT “ (unpackaged) are stores where you can buy products without any packing material. You can put them in your own packing, which you bring from home. I think that the idea behind this link is very important and sustainable, because:
- You avoid packaging waste. That protects the environment and saves resources. Less waste ends up in rivers and the sea.
- You can put as much of the product into your packing as you like. So you don’t have to buy too much of something. This avoids spoilage.
- You can put your products in a box of metal or aluminum without plastic. That is healthier because plastic can cause infertility and plastic is carcinogenic.
In most supermarkets in France you can bring your own box to fill nuts or cornflakes in it. It would be very good, if normal supermarkets in Germany had this for loose products and foods, for example rice, sugar, soap for washing machines and so on.
